Description:
The RCA CC-6263 camcorder uses VHS-C tapes, which are simply smaller VHS tapes. You can play your tapes in any VCR with the included cassette adapter. This feature also allows the manufacturer to make a compact, affordable camcorder--it weighs only 1.6 pounds and is quite portable. RCA designed this model with convenience in mind. It has a built-in AutoShot feature that automatically focuses and adjusts to available light. The LCD color monitor lets you see exactly what you're taping. The CC-6263 includes the Steady Pix feature, which corrects slight shaking of images--especially handy for zooming in on a distant subject, recording an approaching small subject, recording while walking, or recording from a moving vehicle. Your viewers will appreciate this feature during playback because it will make your recording easier to watch.PThe CC-6263 has a fade-in and -out option that adds a professional touch to your recordings. For artistic flexibility, RCA includes the wide-format 16:9 mode. You can also record in a special animation mode that creates the illusion of movement for an otherwise stationary scene when you shoot a series of slightly different poses. The time-lapse recording mode shows subtle changes when focused on an object (such as plant growth or cloud formations). You do this by programming the CC-6263 to record at preset time intervals.PThe playback options include position on the tape, visual search, stop-action pause, time counter, tracking, and time base corrector. The CC-6263 includes a rechargeable battery, AC adapter and charger, shoulder strap, cassette adapter, cassette adapter battery, and a clock cell.

THIS IS YOUR TYPICAL CAMCORDER. IT WORKS FINE. THE ANIMATION FEATURE IS NOT THE KIND YOU'D WANNA MAKE A CARTOON OR CLAYMATION WITH, BECAUSE IT ONLY GOES AS LOW AS A QUARTER OF A SECOND PER SHOT. THE 20X ZOOM IS GOOD, AND THE COMPACT SIZE IS ALSO GOOD. THE ONE BAD THING ABOUT THIS CAM IS THAT IT HAS A DOOR PANEL LATCH THAT IS WEAK. YOUR SUPPOSED TO CLOSE IT BY PUSHING A BUTTON, NOT BY SNAPPING IT. IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY UNHOOK THE PLASTIC LATCH, YOU'LL HAVE A CAMCORDER IN WHICH YOU'LL HAVE TO TAPE THE DOOR/PANEL CLOSE.
An Excellent product..!

This product works fine for me, with no problem with the door opening and closing. It is easy to see what you have taken right away. The sound recording is very good, picks up traffic noise, your own speach, or whatever... Really great for concerts....pEven in very low light conditions, you can record what you see, and even zoom in on the moon, or a postage stamp!pWill automatically focus in at only 3 or 4 inches away from an object!pIt took me some time to figure out how to get it to show the date and time, however, it does work once it is set correctly and programed.pThe 200x zoom is great, but of course the picture is not as clear and sharp the closer you zoom in on your subject....but you will soon see that 1x to about 75x is all you really need...pAll in all, this is a great camcorder, and very easy to use!

This camera has many good features, and I found it easy to use. Unfortunately, after only 14 months of light usage, the electronics developed gremlins. The viewfinder suddenly went from color to black and white, the door began popping open on its own, and soon the viewfinder was only working half the time. The camera wasn't abused; I was filming with it one morning and it was performing normally, then suddenly not. I attempted to get a repair estimate and it wasn't easy, even at designated RCA repair shops. I was told that it would cost less to buy a new camera than it would to have this one fixed. I'm disappointed in RCA re this product. Granted, it's an inexpensive camera, but I expected a little more longevity than this.

There is no light on the camera there is suposed to be one but i duno what happend. The door is kinda flimsy i havent had problems with it but i would think that for some people that might be a drawback. i also noticed that the timelapse features are kinda bad but other than that it's a very good camera. Lights, Action, Camera...This is a very good camera; light, easy to use, simple to understand, all controls are easy to reach, picks up the sound of a needle dropping on the floor, vcr mode lets you playback what you taped, and great in low light! Also, less gadgets mean longer battery duration! But, it does NOT have a view screen on the side (that lets you take your eye away from the viewer), or a speaker to let you hear sound during playback, or a light. If you like to keep things simple, Buy It!...fade to black.

I concur wholeheartedly with all the good reviews here--we've had this camcorder for many years now and have shot hundreds of hours of video with it. It's great! One possible design flaw is the rotating eyepiece or viewfinder. Over the years the ribbon cable inside it wore out and I had a dickens of a time finding another. There are parts lists several places but no diagram to determine the part number, even from RCA (Thomson)service centers. If your display has gone to black and white or otherwise fritzed out, try moving the eyepiece down toward the stored position and see if it comes back (mine did, in green). If so, this cable is likely what you need. The part number for the cable is TCE 244342, and with shipping it ran about $30. Well worth it to keep this camera going. Order from Thomson Consumer Parts at 800-338-0376. As of this week they had about a hundred left in inventory. Good luck!
