br /This is my basic review of the EZ205. I hope it's helpful in determining whether or not to purchase it. One thing I did not mention in the video clip was the digital zoom, which is pretty much a non feature and tends towards big time blurry. Not a big deal if you're not planning on using it.

Here are the reasons I bought this digital camcorder over others.
br /
br /1. It has a flip to front display that will allow you to see yourself while you are recording.
br /
br /2. Excellent resolution (not quality, RESOLUTION). The 640 by 480 video recordings are near DVD resolution (which is 720 by 480).
br /
br /3. Still pictures. This camera also takes 1280 by 960 still pictures. I don't know why they don't stress this in the sales information. This was a real deal maker for me.
br /
br /4. AA batteries. Some digital camcorders have to be plugged into a USB port to recharge. I'd rather just put in another set of common batteries and go on recording. Though I do use rechargeable batteries in mine. They work fine.
br /
br /5. The video is stored on a mini SD card. Want more recording time? Just swap in another card. Plus you can put the card in a reader and copy it to your computer directly, skipping the USB connection entirely.
br /
br /6. This camera comes with a nice carrying case and all the cables you will need for the same price other's charge for just the camera.

The RCA Small Wonder is not as great as I thought it was going to be.
br /
br /I was excited when I read the reviews, but I should have looked around the www a bit more to see how it works with Mac before placing my order.
br /The reason why I opted for this cam instead of the Flip was because of the removable card...turns out its a major pain to take the card out, not just a pop-out-the-side one like I thought it would be...my fault for not doing more research though.
br /
br /Actually, it works ok with Mac, you simply plug it in and you can easily get the files and drag them onto the desktop. You can even open up the video in any number of programs that play AVI files, but I don't seem to get any audio in any app besides VLC...I open the RCA video files in Quicktime Pro, Final Cut Pro, whatever, there's no audio, this means I can't edit! Pretty much why I bought this!
br /If I could edit the video files, it would get 5 stars... can anyone help?
br /
br /Also, the still pictures that it takes aren't great...think of a 1 MP cam-phone.
br /
br /Should've gotten Ultra Flip instead.
br /_______________________________________________________________________
br /
br /Follow-up comment...
br /
br /I found a great way to convert any file into any format!
br /VisualHub (forgot I even had this), will do just that. Now I'm able to take the AVI files that the Small Wonder utilizes, and convert them into DV for use in Final Cut Pro or iMovie.
br /
br /Very pleased with my RCA Small Wonder now!
br /
br /Only wish I could bump my rating of this cam up 1 star...

My wife and I bought this for my son's 12th birthday and he loves it. The quality of the video is quite good with a large amount of storage that can be upgraded, but for his needs 30min of video is fine. The screen is good quality, and the price for this was much cheaper than similar products especially considering it comes with a USB cable, carrying case, and batteries.
br / HERE'S AN UPDATE, THIS STARTED TO MALFUNCTION 2 WEEKS INTO USING IT. IT WAS NOT DROPPED OR HANDLED ROUGHLY, IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. IT WOULD FREEZE UP FOR NO REASON WHILE LOOKING AT VIDEO OR PICS AND THE ONLY WAY TO "THAW" IT WAS REMOVING THE BATTERIES. THAT'S TOO BAD BECAUSE IT TOOK GREAT VIDEO.

Great Video recorder, but uses MicroSD memory, not SD.

Easy to use and also takes still pictures. But, be SURE to buy micro SD memory cards (thumb nail size) not the regular (thumb size) memory card.

I tried this camcorder. I like it because 1) the resolution is relatively good 2)well assembled 3)long last hours 4) good for travel 5) last but not least, good price.
br /
br /One pity, the video voice is not loud enough.

I bought this camera to take video of a new puppy.
br /
br /PROS:
br /
br /- Small. Not any bigger than a pack of cards.
br /- Cheap. I don't worry too much about damaging it.
br /- Takes two AA batteries. Easy to change. No battery pack, etc.
br /- Memory can be upgraded and cards are cheap now.
br /- Audio sensitivity is OK
br /- Auto power off after a few minutes.
br /- No moving parts; no worries about maintenance or things getting knocked out of alignment.
br /- Easily concealed for candid shots. In a pinch, and at the internet quality setting (longer recording time), it could probably even be used for el cheapo surveillance.
br /
br /
br /CONS:
br /
br /- Limited zoom. Only 2x.
br /- Image looses focus and is fuzzy at extreme zoom. Better to move closer to whatever you're shooting rather than use the zoom, which is pretty much worthless anyway.
br /- Batteries don't last long, but they're cheap.
br /- I wish I could turn off the audio alert the camera makes when powering up; it has wrecked a few candid shots I wanted to get of my German Shep pup, who reacted to the tone when it sounded...
br /- Lack of an optical viewfinder means its hard to view things in the viewfinder in bright sunlight, but thats pretty much a fault for all LCD screens.
br /- Poor quality when recording at the extended time (think of the older tape-based units).
br /
br /All in all, I LIKE it. The software is easy to install and use. Has a little carrying case and an offer to purchase custom skins if you're into that sort of thing. Is it a camera I would buy to take video of new babies or the trip to England and meeting with Queen Elizabeth? No, but for the price, it serves it's purpose well...

I purchased this camera from Amazon on the 13 of November, did my research beforehand. After receiving this camcorder I started playing with it. It's easy to learn, fun to use. It allows me to quickly get those little snippets of life that we have and wished we had a picture of it. Well, now I do. For sharing these snippets with the family this is so great, upload them to the internet and they can share things too. Sound isn't that great but this wasn't meant to be as great a camcorder as something you pay $300 to $500 for, but it's also not as heavy, quick to start, etc. I find the picture quality very good for this type of camera. I'm very pleased with it. Those that order it thinking they are getting top of the line product should do their research first. It's a fun gadget, grabs the quick shot and downloads are easy.

We bought this camera because we have a new baby and wanted to make little movies...however, given that we have limited time to edit the movies, etc we knew we didn't need to invest in anything expensive with more features. Its like a point and shoot camera - we make little movies, and send them off to the grandparents! I'm amazed at the quality. The only drawback is that you can't use it on a Mac.

I got this camcorder wearily because I wasn't sure how good it would be. It's a LOT better than I expected. I love the video quality and am not finding much difference between the high and web qualities. It's so light, small and portable! I am a counseling student and I am going to use this to tape my practice and it's perfect! It's also easy to write to DVDs and upload online. I'll post a video review shortly.
br /
br /The two bad things about it are: I am worried about the USB dongle breaking... hopefully it'll stay put! And the still photos are pretty bad but I did not get it for that purpose.
br /
br /Update: December 09
br /The same day I got it, I noticed a crack on the plastic casing over the flip screen hinge. I did not mention it in the review because Amazon sent a replacement almost instantaneously. However the one they sent has a crack on the same spot. I'm not sure if everyone received it with the same crack- please comment and let me know! The crack doesn't have any effect on the camcorder right now, but if it widens I'm worries it could break!
br /
br /Update: December 09
br /Ok after spending further time with it, I found out that you cannot record more than upto an hour at a time, even if you have high capacity memory in it. After an hour, the unit gives you a warning about maximum capacity and shuts down. There is still room in the memory card, and you can turn the unit back on and start recording again. However, when it automatically shut down, it didn't even save what I was recording for that past hour! Seems like a bad software design... hopefully they'll have a firmware update or something. It's annoyingly limiting and does not serve my purpose anymore because I need to record more than an hour sometimes without getting up to restart it.
br /
br /However the video quality is very good- and if you record short clips and don't get a cracked unit- it's a great option!

Comes with software to run on your computer and works good. Can also use the videos easy with Windows movie maker if you have Windows XP. You must have XP or higher to upload the videos on your computer. Mac or Linux don't know. Good picture, sound and price. Don't expect to make your Steven Spielburg movie on it.

It does what it's suppose to do and at a very good price $80(8/10/2008). I was going to buy a canon SD750 for $170 because it's about the same size and takes pretty good video too but I decided to get the small wonder. It's much simpler to use and I don't worry too much about my kids using it as well since it is so cheap. It's still capability is useable only for the web (1-megapixel). The video is not as good as a minidv camcorder, but it's not too bad really. My computer does not have a firewire port and I'm not savy enough with electronics to get my minidv tapes onto my hard drive. My kids love the small wonder and use it all the time. I tried the flip mino but didn't think it was worth the extra bucks ($150) and less features ie non-removable battery, no way to expand it's memory and no still capability. My family takes more video with the small wonder because it's small and cute too.
Love this little camera

RCA EZ205 Small Wonder Digital Camcorder with 2 Hour Recording and 1GB Included Memory
br /I considered first a Flip video camera, but when I saw the RCA Small Wonder, I decided to give it a try.
br /I am so pleased with my choice. I have taken it to my son's soccer games and am looking forward to his karate tournaments. What a wonderful way to record and share his special childhood moments. Note:I would suggest including a mini tripod in your purchase, it just gives you more flexibility if you are recording yourself, for You Tube.
br /Great Buy!

I bought this camera to video my grandson as he is doing little things during the day. I really like the quality of this camera. Video quality is great, and sound quality is great. It picked up conversation from across the room. I Like the way you can also add more memory to this camera and not have to hook up the camera to you computer to download the videos. Software that comes with it is also good quality.

When I received this camcorder, it didn't have the latest software so it took almost a week of dealing with tech support to get that loaded so that it was actually useable. Now that it's functioning, it works great and is very portable. I was just really disappointed that it took so long to get it going with tech support.

pros; small, cute, good price (at first glance)
br /
br /cons; horrendous pics; both still and motion. resolution is dismal. how anyone could say it ws near dvd quality astounds me-as one reviewer stated. the audio is virtually useless, and diminishes from near zero to sero as the distance from the mike increases-at 10 feet youo hear almost nothing-recording a band playing would leave you very frustrated and disappointed. it also sucked up my batteries like a kid with an ice cream cone-thankfully for those that can be recahrged. a person sitting on a floral sofa had the flowers in focus but not them, they were totally fuzzy and blurred under both web quality and high quality..moving the camera to get the person in focus still had them VERY fuzzy-hard to look at without the eyes getting sore/tired from seeing such a blurry pic.
br /i only bought this when the price dropped to eighty...mistake, it is hardly worth it at even thirty, and then it's just be something to keep in the glove compartment in case of an accident/emergency. i knew this camcorder would notgive great pics, but certainly the low quality surprises me, how low will you go in quality...
br /
br /i will send this back and spend a little more.
br /
br /addendum: took it to a club; horrible, you can barely make out the faces of the performers, either in WQ or HQ; grainy pics, and the video made the people moves like they were jerky, not normal movements of human beings. then i took it outdoors and filmed; again horrible detail. in WQ you could not make out rocks on the ground, a rosemary plants was very blurry as to be near not reconizeable...in HQ there was not much difference either. and the sound from the band at the club was distorted and sounded as if it came from a turntable at the wrong speed...and to hear the music i had to turn up the tv to full volumne and even then is was middling in hearing levels.
br /
br /this camera i would never use even at thirty, the pics, shown to anyone would be embarassing.
