I bought this camera for wife so she would have small camera to carry around with her on vacation. While the pictures it takes will never be mistaken for pics taken with a DSLR, the results are generally very good. It's also very simple to use. If you're the type of person that is going to "pixel peep", or be upset about "noise" at a high ISO, then this probably isn't the camera for you. Then again, no camera for around $100 is going to make you happy. If you want an inexpensive, small camera to just take pictures, then this camera is an excellent choice. It's a small, no-frills, to the point, point and shoot. It also seems very well built, and the 2.5" screen is acceptable for a camera at this price. The camera itself probably rates about 4 stars, but I give it 5 stars at its price point.

I purchased this camera for a recent vacation and found it to be an excellent choice. The Finepix is an easy to use point and shoot camera.
br /
br /The pictures it takes are very clear - this is probably a result of Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization Technology. I took pictures from a moving bus, and they look as if I'm standing still.
br /
br /The camera is good in low light at a reasonable distance. We took pictures of the Las Vegas Strip at night, and they look amazing. However, we also took pictures in a very dim room and found that unless the object you were focusing on was close at hand, it was very difficult to see in the picture. The low light pictures still very clear.
br /
br /The 3X zoom was perfect for every picture that I wanted to take and made items look close enough for a good shot.
br /
br /In sum, this is an excellent purchase for the price. I recommend this camera to anyone wanting to take basic, good pictures.

I was looking for a camera with basic functions. Really if my Samsung Blackjack's camera has a built in flash, I might not really need a new camera. I need a small camera that can fit in my purse or pants pockets. I looked at some models that use rechargable AA batteries, but the camera will be a lot thicker and heavier. This camera fits my requirements and the price is really attractive.
br /
br /I played with it the night I received it. The basic manual didn't take too long to read through the important points. There is supposed to be a more detailed manual in the CD, but I haven't had the need to read it yet.
br /
br /The anti-blur feature, which is new to me, is really useful. The camera doesn't have too many buttons to confuse me, and as you change the settings the explanation of the new setting is displayed on the LCD. No need to keep the manual around with you.
br /
br /I have a 1GB Kingston micro SD that I bought for my cell phone, and I am able to use it on this camera, with the SD adaptor. The basic manual does warn that some mini/micro SD adaptors have additional contacts at the back and they should not be used on this camera.
br /
br /Overall I am really pleased with the features on this camera. I look forward to bringing it with me on my next vacation.

Nice point and shoot camera. Price is good. A great starter camera or use as a spare. I have had problems with cameras in this price range with premature death under 2 years - Pentax, Samsung. I don't expect this one to last long either. My $600 + digital cameras have preformed without premature death, but they are bigger to carry - this one is so convenient. The battery price is not $50 - check around. I purchased one for under $12 with free shipping.

I'm going on a trip to Europe and needed a new camera. I wanted a simple camera that takes great pictures and has long battery life. My new Fuji is all of this. You can figure out how to work it straight out of the box without needing to look at a manual. All the features are great, the pictures look nice. The battery is easy to charge and lasts quite a while. I would definitely recommend this camera for anyone who needs a high-quality, simple camera. Plus, you can't beat the price.

[[ASIN:B0011ZK6ZC Fujifilm Finepix J10 8.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Brushed Silver)This is our first and came with a nice thick book for use. We struggled to get the memorey card installed and had a younger family member do that for us. We love it and are having fun transferring pics to the computer to share with our kids grandchildren. This little camera takes beautiful pictures and the display is large enough for anyone to see. It is very small and fits into your shirt pocket. LOVE IT... AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT

Absolutely unbelievable! This camera is great. I have had some bad experiences with Nikons in the past and for my first Fujifilm I was supremely impressed. The shots are enormous and can be really crisp and clear. It's not as fancy but there are lots of settings and helpful features that get the job done right.

I bought this camera for personal use. Although I'm not a professional photographer I greatly enjoy taking pictures and this camera has suited me well. It's because of its generally high reveiws that I chose this camera out of the many to choose from, and I add my two thumbs up to it! The picture resolution is so clear and amazing and the "movie" recording works fantastically. Another thing that has pleased me is the way it captures in real color instead of giving it that "picture" look. For a camera of its price I am thoroughly satisfied. :)

I've purchased several digital Fuji cameras over the years and have been very happy with them. I purchased this one because of its very small size (and low cost). After comparing this one to similar cameras by other manufacturers, I decided to stick with Fuji. Like all others in this size and price range, it lacks a viewfinder (which I sorely miss), but that's just the way they are making them nowadays.
br /
br /I found a couple of the controls to be slightly funky, but nothing I couldn't easily adjust to. Most other aspects of the camera functioned pretty much as I expected -- time between pictures, light adjustments, etc. The one critisism I have is that the colors are not as vibrant as in photos I've taken with my other Fuji digital cameras (which used the super CCD technology). On the other hand, I paid between $350 and $550 for my previous cameras, so the comparison really isn't valid.
br /
br /All in all, a nice, small camera that will comfortably fit in a shirt pocket. Great for taking on an outing where you don't want to lug around a heavy camera and just want to take some casual snapshots.

I've been wanting a small, economical point/click camera that takes good pictures with the minimum ammount of blur. That's exactly what I got. Camera is easy to use, very intuitive and has an unusually long battery life (I've been able to use it daily for about 4-5 weeks between charges). The pictures are sharp, I've been able to take beautiful action photos without hand or motion blur. For a basic camera without any frills, bells or whistles I deffinately recommend it. It's small and light enough to keep in my purse on a daily basis.
br /
br /My one qualm is that the software it came with sucks. It won't work properly on my new computer (and I don't have an old PC to test it on) and crashes when I try to upload photos from the camera. My PC does have a memory slot reader so I've been able to get around the problem without difficulty, but if the software and cabling are key for you, you might want to look into an alternative.

I got this camera to get shots of my 7 month old. I was concerned about getting non-blurry shots since children move suddenly. I've gotten great pictures of him. We went to a parade and there was no blurring of the moving people or floats. We even went to a Medeivel fair and had only slight blurring of joisting. Not bad for two horses moving quickly in opposite directions. The video function was handy. I was able to capture my son's first steps even though I didn't have my video recorder with me because of this function, it even captured the sound. The battery lasts quite well on a single charge and the camera is fairly intuitive in how it functions, I didn't have to read the manual to figure it out. Small enough that I can alway have it with me. Resolution is great, I'm very satisfied with my purchase, it does what I wanted it to do.

I was pretty impressed with this camera from the start, its got a pretty small design so it wont get in the way. The quality of the pictures are really good, and the camera does a good job of determining lighting conditions for the auto flash. One of the best features of the camera is its ability to take clear shots of moving objects, I've taken pictures of people moving as well as taken shots from cars on the road and the picture remains clear with little or no blurring. Great camera for the price I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a 8.2 mp digital camera thats light and portable but takes great pictures.

I bought this camera last week and I love it. I have a large zoom digital camera (Panasonic Lumix) for wild life photos on vacation. But I wanted a small point and shoot to take mostly inside photos of my dog, in low light. I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W50 that takes great outside photos, but horrible, blurry inside photos. I found that unless my dog sat completely still, every photo blurred. Not with my new Fuji. I've taken at least 300 photos in the last 5 days and they're terrific. I mostly use the Anti-blur setting with a red eye reduction flash for my dog, and I haven't been disappointed. I also looked at the Canons, but found them to be slow in writing speed and flash recycle time. I considered the Fuji F40d or F50d at $250, but the flash recycle time was very slow on the F50d, which is the newer version. For $150, I have a great camera that does exactly what I want it to. Great battery life considering how much I've been playing with it in the last week. I recommend it.

br /All in all this is an ok camera. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but I thought it may perform slightly better at night. Since I'll primarily be using it for hiking (i.e. the daytime), I'm not too worried. I have had the Fuji Finepix J10 for about a week now. I take a lot of car and beach pics but I am an amateur. The menu system is easy to use and has just about the perfect amount of features for me. I see a lot of complaints about limited features but hey, it's a $100 point and shoot camera. Professionals would never be using it anyway. The people that would be using it are most likely people just like me. The camera is easy to understand and the pics are of excellent quality. My last camera was a Vivitar and the one before that was a Cannon. Both were highly featured and incredibly complex to use for even basic photography. The pics werent any better even when taken by friends that are knowledgable about photography. Plus I never used 90% of the features anyway. They were just in the way. I recommend the Fuji Finepix J10 highly for non professionals like myself that want a solid point and shoot camera.

I've purchased many cameras in the past few years, from subcompacts to DSLRs. This is a very inexpensive camera and I wouldn't expect SLR-level performance, of course. However, it is still disappointing. In fairness, it is capable of taking perfectly nice pictures in ideal conditions. But it is extremely inconsistent, and has poor low-light (i.e., indoors) performance. Without optical image stabilization, its usefulness is extremely limited. You can do better.

All the positive points cited by other reviewers are true. Lightweight, easy to use point and shoot. I found it fine for indoors use. But outside, the LCD display was so dark all I could see was my own reflection. No way I knew what I was shooting. So, regretfully, I am returning what is otherwise a good little camera, and I will stick to my (much heavier) Canon powershot with viewfinder - even without the viewfinder, the display on the Canon shows up better in daylight than does the Fuji.

I bought this to replace my Canon Powershot A70, which I've had replaced or repaired at least 4 times over 5 years (now the lens is broken, again). I got this one on a whim, because I wanted a more expensive one that wasn't in stock. This camera is slow to take photos so many precious moments have been missed. The way to change to another mode (movie, manual) is multi-step so again, moments are missed. And it seems like photos aren't very bright. I just bought another Canon.

The reason i bought this camera is because it claimed to have "image stabilization." That is a bunch of bull. The anti-blur mode is even worse then the normal shooting mode. You cannot take pictures without a flash. You cannot take distance pictures without blur. Basically the only thing the camera can do is take up close pictures with a flash. I am returning it and am just going to re-purchase my original cannon i had that was only 7mp but took much much better pictures and videos....

br /You MUST buy extra memory. the internal memory will hold 2-3 pictures at the 8 MP setting.
br /Oh, did I mention the LCD screen is cracked? with minimal use, non abusive carried in my pocket the screen is unusable with no other view finder, its unusable. looking into warranty repair, but I'm guessing it will cost more than the camera.

br /However, we CANNOT recommend this camera. Instead of the the typical pair of AA batteries, this camera uses a proprietary, non-standard battery. The price on Amazon is $49.95!
br /
br /When you are on vacation and use up the battery in one day, you won't be able to stick another pair in (unless of course you pay the $50.00).
br /
br /Many other point and shoots use AA batteries. We recommend you buy one of those instead.
