Not that great

This camera is barely usable as a video camera. First off, you need a LOT of light when capturing video... daylight or close to it.
br /Other not so great features:
br /- Video frame rate is no better than 15fps at 320 x 240 (as stated in the manual) The best I've seen in the tests I've done so far is around 10 - 12fps. Marginal at best, and certainly not video camera quality.
br /- The battery/memory slot door is flimsy; it looks like it'll break after a handful of uses.
br /- no optical zoom. Digital zoom is a useless gimmick.
br /- no mounting options at all, so you can't use it on a tripod.
br /
br /The camera has some nice features, though.
br /- It's compact
br /- The pop-up LCD screen is not bad.
br /- the built-in microphone captures sound well.
br /
br /If you need a small, cheap digital camera that produces average still photos, marginally useful video and good sound capture... then this camera may suit you.
br /
br /Many other regular digital cameras in this price range have better digital camera features (optical zoom, better lens) and can capture short movie clips that are as good (or as bad) as this camera. They're probably a better choice.
Works Great for My Needs

I bought this little unit as a take-anywhere video camera to record those day-to-day, once-in-a-lifetime moments of my child that you usually only catch as a memory in your head. It's not the camera you want to use for big events like birthdays or holidays, because the video quality is not good enough. But it's perfect for casual outings to the park, or places you may not want to take your expensive video equipment.
br /
br /It easily fits in my pocket, so no matter where we're going, I take it along. And since it was so cheap, I don't have to worry about breaking it. I even take it close to the pool--although it is NOT waterproof or water resistant.
br /
br /It does not give the same high-quality video as my expensive miniDV tape camcorder, or my expensive Canon S2 IS digital camera, but the quality is sufficient for the price.
br /
br /I can take tons of video on my 512 meg SD card (I calculated 45 minutes on the highest resolution), but have yet to use all of the card in one outing) and then I can upload it to my child's website, or burn it onto a DVD.
br /
br /Some people have complained about the battery/sd card door, but although it is hard to close, I don't anticipate it ever breaking.
br /
br /PROS:
br /Inexpensive.
br /Small enough to take just about anywhere.
br /Super-long battery life (using nimh rechargeables).
br /No tapes!!
br /Records in easy-to-edit avi files.
br /
br /CONS:
br /Results are poor if the camera is moved around too quickly while filming. Sometimes you get a "warp" effect if you move too much, too quickly.
br /No lens cap.
br /Awkward handling since the lcd screen flips up rather than swinging out to the side as in a typical camcorder.
br /Terrible in low-light conditions.
br /
br /In the month that I've owned it, I've captured lots of memories that I would otherwise never been able to see again or share with others.
br /
br /I was skeptical about it when I purchased it, but this thing is a keeper!
Awesome!! Beats Mustek's Newest Cams

The Mustek DV4000 doesn't come close to the DXG-202v camera. The Mustek feels cheap, the case is cheap, and the movies come out fairly blurry. The photos on the Mustek over-emphasize the color red and are pixely down to VGA (640x480). However, the DXG-202V has a small fold out LCD screen, a firm case design, the photos are very similar to a 2MP CCD camera and the movies come out very clear. And, unlike the Mustek's line of MPEG4 cams, the DXG-202v uses the MJPEG AVI file format which WORKS FOR MAC, TOO! I use my DXG-202v in iMovie and QuickTime. And the last wonderful thing about this cam is that it's a fraction of the price of a Mustek DV4000 camera. The only thing I would change about this cam is that instead of a smooth zoom in video mode, it seems to zoom choppy; other than that I am very happy with this camera.
Alot better than the mustek dv3000

I LOVE THIS LITTLE CAMERA!I have sent back 2 mustek dv3000 cameras, the pictures were blury and grainy and it was so hard to download the pictures. The pictures taken with this camera were crisp and clear, and easy to download. If you want a low priced camera that takes decent pictures, this camera is for you.

I just bought this camera and let me say the features are endless. It's a 2MP digital, video camera, audio recorder (wav format), mass media storage device, and a webcam all in one. Clear video, crisp pictures. People say there is no zoom in video mode and this is not true. This is a great camera for the price!

As a first time user of digital cameras,I find the DXG enjoyable to use. Exploring all the options and using the software is easy and fun too! I wanted a Kodak, but settled for this because of the many features for the price. No regrets so far!

I have one of these little camera's. I love it...use it everyday.
br /It's not the greatest obviously or it would cost more, but the still pictures come out great and video mode isn't that bad. I've upload many videos to the internet using this camera and they turned out perfect.
br /I've never had any trouble with the battery compartment like others had said. The only two down sides is: you need a fair amount of light and there's no tripod mount, but it's flat, so you can just sit it on top of something like I do. The battery life if pretty good also...a definate keeper!!!
This camera is sub-par!

This camera had shut off when left alone for filming. When I played it back there was a loud buzzing sound in the audio. I was very disappointed in this product. I'm still waiting for word on my refund.

I own, and currently use one of these cameras. It's good for the price.
br /
br /It's basically a cheap web camera component powered off cells, and in a portable case. It has inaccurate ISO specs obviously.. you'll notice this when trying to do anything without high levels of light, and when in high res you get a lot of impurity if it's not a clear, and sunny day, or equivalent.
br /
br /If you get the right amount of light it can make pictures that are competitive with any brand name 5MP camera. The video is suitable, and clear enough(with the right light) for any ameture needs.
br /
br /It also acts as storage, and a USB web cam. I hear it has mp3 capability's, but I've only found video playing features in the firmware.
br /
br /It's practical for video blogging.

A superb, easy to use and well made device. The photos are very good but it's the video that really excells. I'm using it as a web cam to send video over the internet and the quality is astonishing. Glad I bought this machine!

I was looking for a camera to use primarily as a web cam, occasional use as a still camera and maybe to play around some with video. This camera fit the bill well. Using a 75 watt full specturm light bulb as a light source it works rather well as a web cam. It's 5x7 snapshot size stills fit my needs well. It's video needs very good lighting and tends to "jump" if you move quickly, but then my $300 VHS-C Camcoder suffered from the same jumping effect.
br /
br /My main complaints about the camera are lack of a tripod mount (I purchased a tripod when I bought the camera and discovered I couldn't use it) and the lack of an AC jack. I also agree with other reviews that the battery doors is flimsy and require handling with care.
br /
br /Pros: This is a lot of functions in a very compact package at a low price. I wouldn't say it's for pros, but if you want a beginners camera or just something to mess around with it's well worth the price.

I bought this cam because i was going on vacation to florida, i'm dissappointed with the quality the cam has, very poor, sometimes blurry, doesnt matter what you do with the settings to change it still does the same thing, as to the video quality it's just as poor, the zoom is bad too cause when you zoom in to an object it becomes so dazzled that you can't make out what it is. i will continue to look for a cam online.
I have a different DXG camcorder, and I like it

I don't have the 202v, but I do have a similar DXG product. Please take a look at my review for the DXG-305v.
